Breast Cancer 2020

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so it’s the perfect time to increase attention and support of breast health. Breast cancer is one of the most common and well known forms of cancer that occurs in both men and women. While many individuals see warning signs such as lumps, redness, or changes in the breasts, sometimes symptoms aren’t noticeable until the cancer has already progressed. Awareness and early detection are the best steps you can take in order to fight this disease. Remain proactive with breast care before any signs or symptoms begin to show up in order to stay healthy and protected.

Preventive Care Coverage

Diagnosing breast cancer as early as possible is the best case scenario for any patient. The American Cancer Society recommends women over 40 begin yearly screening mammograms, or even earlier if there is a family history of breast cancer. All plans under the Affordable Care Act include services that can help prevent or best manage breast cancer. Services such as genetic testing, mammograms, and annual well-visits are covered under all plans and will not incur any out-of-pocket fees. Alternatively, Medicare Part B covers annual screening mammograms and provides a 20% coinsurance for diagnostic mammograms if medically necessary. Whether you have a few questions about the coverage you need, or need help creating a fully comprehensive plan, the Benchmark team is always happy to provide our clients with the utmost care to ensure their safety and well-being
